Niche Markets for Big Profits

If you've ever marketed a product, service, or opportunity then you're probably familiar with the concept of finding a niche market. The question is how targeted is your niche market, and is it as targeted as it could be?

First, let me explain the reason that you need to know your niche market. You see, it seems that everywhere you turn, both online and offline, someone is selling something. The way to be successful in your marketing efforts is to market your product, service, or opportunity to people who actually want what you have to offer. By marketing to people who want what you have, you'll cut your advertising expenses dramatically, streamline your marketing and advertising efforts, and increase your profit margin greatly.

So how do we find our niche markets?

To find a niche market, we must first understand that the internet is based on a concept called Keywords. All web pages, pay per click advertising, online articles, and press releases are indexed and presented based on keywords. This is how we find what we are looking for on the internet.

For example, if I'm looking for widgets, I'm going to type widgets in my favorite search engine and see what comes up. The first thing you'll see are the standard search engine results that are all based on the keywords you have typed in. You'll also see sponsored advertising on the right side of the screen that is based on keywords. This of course depends on the search engine you are using, but most major search engines have some sort of sponsored pay per click programs.

Keywords are simply what the internet is based on. If you know what keywords to target, you can find anything, or anyone that you want.

How does this apply to you as a marketer?

Simple, keep your keywords in mind. The first misconception is that there are only a few keywords, or niche markets that will work for your product or service. The truth is that if you don't have at least 200 to 500 keywords for your product, then you're probably missing out on potential sales. This is especially true if you are doing any type of pay per click advertising or working on search engine optimization.

The easiest way to find hot niche markets is to use a tool called Good Keywords. There's not a cost to use this tool, but it will significantly boost your sales by using it to do your keyword research. Download Good Keywords at www.goodkeywords.com.

Now type in your general keyword into the Good Keywords program. For example, let's say you're marketing shoes. When you type in shoes, you'll see a huge list of related keyword searches and the total number of times each phrase was searched in the previous month. We see the term shoes at the top of the list and we see that shoes were searched 751,318 times last month.

By scrolling down through the list you'll see many other phrases that you might not have been aware of. By understanding what people are searching for, and how many are searching each month, you'll be better prepared to do your advertising and marketing.

For example, the term shoes, is probably too broad to be much use, but as you look down through the list you see women's shoes, running shoes, and even skate shoes. These are much more targeted markets and will provide you with much more targeted prospects and leads when you market or advertise your products.

Take some time and research your market. Find keywords that reflect what you are selling, and narrow down your phrases so that you can target very specific niches. You'll also find much less competition in these smaller niche markets and it will be much easier to make a name for yourself and your business in these smaller market niches.
